Introducing a new SoftTime Feature - Group Data Entry

Administrators can now make changes to employees’ time off on a group level.  The Group Data Entry tool is used in the same manner as the main monthly calendar screen, with the same level of ease and functionality.

Group Data Entry allows an administrator to select any range or group of individuals and do the following:

·         Make a group adjustment to employees’ allowed time off

·         Give all the members in a group the same day off

·         Mark a group occurrence w/ points

·         Write a group note for referencing

Group Data Entry will allow an administrator to:

  • Assign special holidays per a given work group or location, i.e. different provinces (Canada), multiple offices across the globe, or union holidays (U.S.), etc.
  • Plan/schedule group meetings, business trips, or training days for a select group of employees
  • Globally add a Snow Day for every employee with one click of the mouse

So if the Annual Employee Picnic gets cancelled due to rain, you can log in to SoftTIME, delete the picnic holiday off of the calendar for the entire group, make a note stating why, make an adjustment offering the time-off as personal time banked, and even mark it as a 2 point bonus occurrence for the groups positive attitude displayed toward the much anticipated event.

New Product Launch – TimeKron Remote – Punch In and Out of Projects and Jobs…Anywhere! – June 2009

We just keep making it easier for our customers. Due to launch at the beginning of May, Software Techniques has created a unique tool that makes it easier for employees to punch in and out of work – TimeKron Remote.

What’s TimeKron Remote? Simple. Let’s break it down with a scenario.

Company: XYZ Building Corporation – They build houses for clients all across the United States.

XYZ Building Corporation (XYZBC for short) has a new client in Miami, FL, who needs a house built as soon as possible. XYZBC has several employees who will fly down to Miami to start the construction. One of those employees is Jim.

Jim is on his way to Miami to start the construction work. XYZBC wants Jim to log his project time as soon as he gets to the construction site.

How does Jim let XYZBC know when he gets to the construction site? Simple.

Jim pulls out his phone (let’s call it an IPhone) which has internet connection, and logs into TimeKronRemote.com. He sees a screen and logs in.

Log InPunch InJim Clocks into the job, and he’s ready for work.

The HR Manager goes to his/her computer and clicks a button, which retrieves Jim’s punch information.

How OT Exemption can Cost your company 1.8 Million Dollars

The rules on which employees are exempt from overtime may be complicated, but a recent court ruling highlights one simple fact:

Misapplying the exemptions can cost companies a lot of money.

TAC Worldwide, a Massachusetts-based staffing firm, has just agreed to pay $1.8 million in back wages to 973 employees who sued for being mistakenly classified as exempt from OT.

Most of the affected employees held IT-related positions. Job titles of those who sued include: network engineer, help desk representative, technical writer, software tester and network administrator.

A common classification mistake is focusing on title rather than actual job duties. Employees may have titles that sound exempt — but employers still need to look at what those employees do on a daily basis and make sure the duties match up with at least one of the Fair Labor Standards Act’s OT exemptions.
